Due to our continued growth, we require a Fabric Cutter to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.
Working Hours:
Monday – Thursday 7am – 4.30pm
Friday 7am – 11.00am
Breaks:
Two 15-minute breaks (unpaid)
One 30-minute break (paid)
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cut all fabrics and patterns for the sewing machinists.
•
Create, amend and maintain templates and patterns as required.
•
Carry out individual quality checks to ensure all cut components meet company standards.
•
Operate and maintain electric straight knife cutting equipment safely and accurately.
•
Handle and move fabric rolls (typically up to 25m) safely as part of daily duties.
•
Work collaboratively with colleagues across upholstery, sewing and production departments.
•
Complete work sheets and production documentation accurately.
•
Optimise fabric usage to minimise waste and maintain cost efficiency.
•
Maintain excellent housekeeping, ensuring a clean, safe and organised working environment.
•
Monitor fabric quality before cutting, reporting flaws or inconsistencies.
•
Perform routine checks on cutting tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
Experience using an electric straight knife fabric cutter (essential).
•
Experience in a sewing room or upholstery production environment.
•
Ability to manage the full process from template creation and marking through to final cutting.
•
Strong attention to detail.
•
Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling, including lifting and carrying fabric rolls.
•
Reliable, punctual and professional.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry and manoeuvre fabric rolls as part of daily tasks.
•
Comfortable standing for extended periods.
•
Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for precise cutting work.
